Previous Next Wout Morael does not photograph in order to capture reality, but to construct a new reality. His work can be described as conceptual and surreal photography, characterised by a strong narrative quality and a visual language reminiscent of collage. Wout Morael does not simply take photographs. He composes them. His work has a cinematic, nostalgic undertone and moves between photography, collage and painting. It invites the viewer to construct their own meaning, their own interpretation, or even their own scenario. Each photograph tells a story in which seemingly unrelated elements meet, creating the sensation of a familiar dream. The viewer is not presented with a single, unambiguous meaning, but is invited to make connections and engage their imagination. The story within the photograph is never complete. It is passed on to the viewer, who, in turn, becomes a co-author of the narrative.
